Working Title are the UK’s leading film producers, with Four Weddings and a Funeral, Bridget Jones’ Diary, The Big Lebowski and Les Miserables among their impressive catalogue. As part of a long-standing relationship, Redberry were asked to update their existing website and launch their social media presence.

The Brief

Working Title and their parent company NBC Universal wanted to make more of the visual content on their website and also to integrate social content and sharing.

In addition, Working Title were keen but wary about launching on social. They wanted to create a community of engaged fans who were passionate about the films they make and the filmmaking process itself. From the outset their priority was value over sheer numbers.

The Solution

What we did

The website was updated to include a larger slider at the top to showcase recent film releases and Working Title’s latest TV and theatre productions. The homepage view switched to being almost entirely visual, using the rich poster artwork for Working Title’s entire back catalogue of films.

The content was led by pictures and videos, integrated with the existing film database and showcased in one place on the website’s features section.

A live Twitter feed was introduced on the homepage along with links to Working Title’s other social platforms and social sharing was integrated into every part of the website.

The site’s backend content management system was overhauled and is run on Redberry’s bespoke solution created by our development team on the Zend PHP framework.

A social media strategy was developed with the aim of giving an insider look at all stages of the filmmaking process from the first clapperboard to the first weekend of theatrical release.

Redberry worked closely with key stakeholders including production teams and the distributors’ publicity and marketing departments to secure access to the best content.

Working Title’s official Facebook and Twitter pages launched in the summer of 2013 to coincide with the world premiere of About Time, with an exclusive glimpse of the event being among the first posts.

Since then we have produced exclusive behind the scenes content during the production of The Theory of Everything and upcoming releases Everest and Legend creating early engagement for these releases among a community of fans who are passionate about filmmaking and Working Title.
